Dear friends,
With deep humility and a sense of pride, this last week Lost and Bound was released and the first copies began showing up in the homes of readers. Some have kindly sent me photos and it adds to the feeling of sureality that this whole experience has brought.
It is an odd thing to hold in one's hands a formatted, bound, and covered copy of a story one has spent more than a year of early mornings writing. It is just as odd to leaf through many printed pages, knowing that one has fretted over the words within each line. I think it came out very well. In re-reading, I feel it takes about 6-7% of the story to collect itself and get moving, a not unreasonable gangway to a book; one must, afterall, create from whole cloth a world and compelling characters. But I also look back at those first chapters much like one looks at an infant first learning to prop herself against a chair to stand. I can but only hope this enterance is pleasant enough to afford readers an easy enough path to the story itself, for I feel it gets good legs before long.

Social Media
We threw together a quick movie for BookTok that I believe came out well. It was made from the media of the book - including yours humbly reading three verses from the poem at the end of Act 2. As of this writing it has been shown over 12,000 times and liked by more than 240 viewers.

What's Next?
As I may have mentioned at other times, this first story was a weather balloon into longer-form storytelling, an attempt to see if I could enjoy the process and do it satisfactorily. Before the ideas came to me for Lost and Bound, I had long outlined another tale that I had wanted to tell. I was reverent enough of this other narrative that I did not wish to begin with it first, fearful of trying on a hat this large with insufficient experience to properly execute. I have always been excited about this story, indeed a form of the already-written epilogue dates back twenty years. With parts heavily outlined on paper and in my mind, yesterday I began to properly write it. I'm slightly more than 800 words in to the first chapter and am headed off now to keep hammering and sanding.
So, for a time, we will let Balthazar and his friends find some rest and go unwatched about their lives. I look forward to coming back to see what of their world they have mended. And in the meantime, I must excuse myself and go back to some new friends, eager as I am to meet them.
Thank you
I truly hope everyone is well, safe, and healthy and hugs to all on this crazy world journey we've shared for the last two years.
